Congratulations on an Outstanding James Otis Lecture Program

We started what is a very busy week for TEX-ABOTA with a live and in-person James Otis Lecture Series at the state capitol building in Austin.

We had 71 students from 6 schools attend the event. The students toured the capitol building, sat in the actual chairs of the representatives in the House chamber, heard from ABOTA National President Steve Quattlebaum and TEX-ABOTA President Tim Newsom, and then listened to keynote speaker Bill Brands, Ph.D. The students ate lunch at Scholz Garten while Dicky Grigg spoke on his representation of a Guantanamo detainee and the importance of following our Constitution.

TEX-ABOTA wants to thank Jennifer Ainsworth and Blake Brunkenhoefer for chairing the JOL Committee, and our Executive Director, Tammy Miller. All of them put in a tremendous amount of time to make this event successful.

I also want to thank Jennifer Doan, Charlie Henke, Mitzi Mayfield, Jaiver Espinoza, Al Ellis, Karen Burgess, Melissa Carr, Ryan Squires, David Halpern, Chip Brees and Stacy Garcia for participating in the program.
