Houston Throws a “Spring Fling”

The ABOTA-Houston chapter held its first Annual Spring Fling on Friday, April 19th at the beautiful Revaire. The theme was “Old New York” and guests were decked out in their very finest with a nod to the good old days.

As over 150 members and their guests arrived, they were greeted by impersonators dressed as Groucho Marx, Frank Sinatra and Joan Crawford, who escorted them into the party. A group of guests did their best to follow  Groucho as he said, “Walk this way!”

As music from the 30’s and 40’s played in the background, guests entered a magical room of lights and gorgeous towering white rose and hydrangea centerpieces. A 360-degree camera provided lots of laughs – and some fancy dance moves as guests posed for the fun outcomes.

Chapter President, Hon. Caroline Baker, opened the evening as she greeted the guests and introduced Hon. Elizabeth “Peach” Ray, who came up with the them of “Old New York”, and made it all happen.

An auction to raise funds for scholarships to local law schools raised nearly $25,000! Auction items included stays at members’ gorgeous homes in Colorado, Montana and on Cape Cod. For the sports fans there were 4 VIP tickets to a Houston Rockets game.

The evening ended with members rocking out on the dance floor to great songs from all decades, courtesy of the band, Runaway Radio.
